About USFC
Flying clubs all over the world serve as temples for aviation enthusiasts. Such platforms provide people with an opportunity to fulfill their dream of flying. In Pakistan however, flying clubs had limited their aviation activities to training programs that cater to the needs of professional pilots, general aviation operators and commercial airlines only. These programs were very expensive and tightly regulated. Thus closing the avenues for people interested in flying for recreational purposes.
All this changed when sport flying was introduced in Pakistan for the very first time under the umbrella of the Ultralight and Sports Flying Club (USFC). USFC was registered on 18th January 1997 as a non-commercial, non-governmental organization.
The main objective of the club was to develop a membership network in the major cities of Pakistan and to offer affordable, least regulated and easy to access sport flying through Ultralights, Sport Aircraft, Powered Parachutes, Hand-Gliders and Para-Gliders. After a meeting between Chief of the Air Staff Pakistan Air Force and the President of USFC in 1998, the first Chief Patron of USFC was appointed from Pakistan Air Force to assist USFC and to coordinate with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for the promotion of sport and recreational flying at the national level.
Also in 1998 USFC obtained an affiliation with the United States Ultralight Association (USUA) as Club No 127, with the objective of benefiting from their support on matters pertaining to rules, regulations, licensing and airworthiness requirements of Ultralight and Sport Aircraft Flying.
In the same year, with the cooperation and assistance of USUA and CAA, Official Syllabus of Ultralight Flying and Ground Training Manual was approved. Thus, with the start of regular Ground and Flight Training at Walton Aerodrome Lahore, USFC became the First and the Only CAA approved Club and Training School for Ultralight and Sport Aircraft aviation in Pakistan.
In June 1998 CAA allocated Hangar No. 1 (VIP II) at Walton Aerodrome Lahore to USFC for training purposes and promotion of Sport Aviation in Pakistan. After extensive renovation work, the Vice-Chief of Air Staff formally inaugurated this hangar on 26th March 1999. This historic hangar is now a pleasant and practical site for maintaining, parking, training and pleasure flying of Ultralights and Sport Aircraft.
By the grace of Allah Almighty, USFC has achieved many milestones since its humble beginning in 1997.
These are some exclusive privileges enjoyed by USFC and proof of our professional and organized setup. |
